Butang Archipelago:

An almost circular shaped group of three large and numerous smaller islands and islets just North of the malaysian border. The Butangs are part of the Tarutao Marine National Park. Only one island has permanent habitation:

On Ko Lipe you find a Sea Gypsy village as well as a small bungalow resort plus a couple of simple restaurants. With the exception of Ko Lipe all larger islands are high, mountainous and densely covered in tropical forest. On the islands there are fresh water streams, waterfalls and lots of wild life. The water inside the “circle” of islands is generally calm and the views are stupendous. On the South side of the Archipelago is an area of scattered reefs and rocks which offer very good snorkeling.
